We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Benelux Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) recognising security companies, people and technology who have made a significant contribution in working towards protecting people, property and assets.

The 2021 winners were announced at a virtual awards event on 16th September, sponsored by Bavak Security Group, and organised with the support of BEVEILIGING NIEUWS.nl and ASIS International Benelux Chapter.

The winners are:

Outstanding Security Team
STIB-MIVB SECURITY TEAM

The STIB-MIVB Security Team’s aim is to ensure the safety of the 1 million passengers and colleagues every day.  They fight against fraud and contribute to the smooth running of their network.   To achieve this, STIB-MIVB have reinforced their workforce and have rebuilt a canine brigade and since 2019 they increased the number of passengers checked by more than 11%, and fines for those travelling without a ticket increased by 15%.  In response to the pandemic, they have adapted their infrastructure and strengthened their collaboration with the police which the judges congratulated them for.

I would like to inform you that this award means a lot to me and my department.
We are really proud to be recognised for our expertise.
This award will give even more legitimacy to our service and increase the notion of professionalism towards our field agents.
Being certified in this way will contribute to our desire to continue to develop and expand our safety activity within Brussels public transport.
Thank you again for your encouragement !

Outstanding Customer Service Initiative
G4S AVIATION RECRUITMENT INITIATIVE

G4S Aviation faced an enormous challenge in terms of recruitment with few job-seekers and a contract that required highly efficient personnel to ensure the security of employees and passengers at Brussels Airport.  Through a unique collaboration, they succeeded in recruiting 11 people with ASD to take up deserved places as security guards in Aviation Security.  Judges felt that the initiative provided a very unique collaboration through cooperation with extraordinary people who are focused and help secure Brussels Airport and passengers.

Outstanding New Security Product
PV APP – CORPORATE SECURITY SERVICES SNCB

Corporate Security Service (CSS) is the service within SNCB that is the contact point for security.  This service is responsible for the coordination and implementation of security and surveillance activities in the railway domain.  If violations of the Railway Police Act are committed, the PV App allows Securail agents to draw up a report in accordance with the law and GDPR.  Until recently, this was done only via a program on a PC which resulted in agents having to withdraw from the field and was time-consuming.

Outstanding Security Partnership
TAPA EMEA NETWORK

The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) has helped its Manufacturing and Logistics Service Provider members maintain the resilience of their supply chains throughout the Covid pandemic through the provision of industry security standards, training and loss prevention intelligence.  In 12 months, the Association’s membership in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region is now at its highest level in TAPA’s 24-year history, and certifications for its security standards for facilities, trucking and secure parking are up by as much as 7.6%. Training has been delivered to 2,222 participants and new online, Driver and Remote Auditing courses have been launched.  Judges felt that the Association provides many benefits for members and continues to be a real game changer for supply chain security.

Outstanding Young Security Professional
DYLAN SHAW – UBER

Dylan has held progressive and often incipient roles at Uber in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and now North Asia.  He builds and leads programmes driving down business and security risk on an international scale, positively impacting millions of platform users, customers and colleagues.  Often building the plane whilst flying it (and through particularly stellar and disruptive growth), he is a champion of innovative and quantitative-led risk solutions.  Judges were impressed that Dylan lives up to complex security challenges in ever-changing environments at such a young age.

I’m thrilled to have been able to be part of the process, amid worthy competition and esteemed assessors. I’m delighted with the result, which is – above all – a huge testament to the many colleagues and partners that I have worked with in the last year. Thanks to the OSPAs team for all of their dedication to the industry too.
